


All Zeptive devices have an internal backup battery, as shown below. This battery allows the device to remain on at all times, even during a power outage or during a change of the main larger battery, if you have wireless devices. Our battery supplier has recommended replacing the internal backup battery due to a manufacturing problem estimated to affect 0.001% of batteries produced.

Recommended Option #1
Zeptive recommends replacing the internal backup battery during the next few months. This process requires that the unit be removed from the wall. A replacement battery and a Torx T8 screwdriver (if requested) will be provided at no charge. Estimated replacement time is 3–10 minutes per device. Alternatively, you can ship your device to Zeptive at no charge for this service.
Recommended Option #2
You may choose to disable the backup battery immediately as a precaution, even though the likelihood of an issue is extremely low. When the backup battery is removed, wired units will continue to function with no degradation in performance. Wireless units, which are powered by a large removable battery, will also continue to function; however,will no longer provide a warning when the large removable battery is depleted. You can also temporarily turn off your device to avoid any possible issue with the internal backup battery until option #1 is performed.

Zeptive was made aware of a potential quality issue with the internal backup battery on May 8, 2025. Since that time, our team has been working closely with the battery supplier to understand any risk or other issues. Our battery supplier has identified the quality issue to occur at 10 parts per million, or 0.001%. Zeptive is taking the extra precaution of replacing all internal backup batteries in any potentially affected device. No other components in your detector are affected. Zeptive takes any issues with batteries very seriously, and has elected to take the most proactive approach possible by replacing all potentially affected units.
